looking for spreading glass

Does anyone now any light opaque color (white, grey, beige) that spreads like intense black?

Eileen 2017-08-11 4:59pm

Spread and give the lacy web effect like the intense black? Not that I have seen or heard, but there are so many colors maybe someone else knows something about a new one.

Yes, like intense black
I remember seeing it on the bead somewhere, but do not remember where #-o

Interesting! I hope someone knows and can chime in.

I have done this with dark ivory, threading it on black, for instance, and I get that spreading, but not as defined as intense black. Don't do ivory threading on blues or greens-it will turn black.

Mosaic green, petroleum green, EDP, Rubinho (don't use on ivory), Lauscha olive and denim.

you might try the reichenbach dense white

They spread, they don't necessarily web.

mandyjw 2017-08-13 12:10pm

anise white?

anzhelikan 2017-08-13 12:14pm

Using SIS (silvered ivory stringer) can give a web-ish effect... maybe that's an option?

Avenue Beads sells Peacock Veining Stringers and I love them. They spread and web in greens and yellows and it takes very little. I use them as you would SIS. Ernie Wagner

I have a number of charts on my website. What you want to look at is the second column. If a color will spread, that column will show it.

Raku is another super spreader.

The truly white webbing you probably, maybe(?), are thinking about is silver glass webbing. :) can't tell you how it's done but there's a great tutorial on it.

Any glass with copper as a component has a chance of reacting with the glass around it.

I've found that turquoises, greens and ivories work the best, but I'm sure there are other combinations that might react too.

Good thinking Shardi, that never even crossed my mind!

carolinesbeads 2017-08-19 11:43pm

I was thinking you could mix CIM Cirrius, marshmellow and Effertre anice white and get kind of a curdled white look. Maybe throw in some white enamel or frit? I am going to try this to get the look of curdled ivory in white.
