Boro bead makers...what do you consider a "set"

I make lots of "sets" of boro beads. I do mean a LOT of sets. But I hardly ever sell them. Mostly because I never like my pics.

Any advice, and how many do you usually include in your sets?

I don't really have any input... except you should be selling those! :D

Karen Hardy 2008-11-07 7:59pm

Depends on the mood I'm in, the focal, the size of the beads, etc.
Usually with a large focal, I'll offer 4 or 6 smaller matching beads.
With smaller identical beads - then about 5-10 in a set depending on
size.

Any critiques or advice on my pics?

Yeah, get off your ass and sell them.
They're beautiful!

pierces*designs 2008-11-07 8:09pm

When I look at them I critique the hell out of them and talk myself out of listing them. And I am not exaggerating about the LOTS of sets. I have boxes.

tiggybubba 2008-11-07 8:21pm

beads are beautiful. Their beauty would really shine with a lighter background to provide better contrast.

RuskinDesigns 2008-11-07 8:22pm

Debbie sell them, they are great

Karen Hardy 2008-11-07 10:48pm

Deb, I've seen worse pictures all over ebay and etsy, and they
don't even have beads half as nice as yours.
Your pics show enough color and detail to represent the beads clearly.

Now MOVE it, Soldier! Get those beads up. Don't make me come over there
and beat your puppy (I'll DO it!).....

suzanne 2008-11-08 12:58am

Those are fab Deb, your beads are amazing, and your pics are too, go sell some beads!

Mr. Smiley 2008-11-08 3:28am

Try a black background... but the pics are fine as is... You should definitely sell them! ;)

Mr. Smiley 2008-11-08 3:44am

I was bored, so I airbrushed black in to show you how your eyes are drawn to the beads and not the background with black...

menty666 2008-11-08 4:51am

I make as many as I've made when I finally got bored doing it.

I also don't do a lot of beads :D

pierces*designs 2008-11-08 5:35am

That does look cool Brent! I need to try that!

KayTStudio 2008-11-08 5:48am

Speaking as a buyer of sets for making jewelry I'd like to see different background colors. Listings usually allow multiple pictures, try a white, black and maybe a graduated greyscale background. That will give buyers an idea of how those gorgeous beads will look in different situations.
And good grief woman, list those sets and sell them!

IF-Designs 2008-11-08 6:37am

The best black background stuff I have found is the craft foam sheets...that stuff rocks its not too shiny or too matte and you dont mess it up too bad most the time when photoing stuff...:) Those really are lovely beads but Im thinking you talk yourself out of selling them because you want to keep them for yourself and have a big room thats like a ball pit of boro beads that you can just jump in and flail around and have fun in and enjoy looking at them all lol ;) sounds like a good time to me!

pierces*designs 2008-11-08 8:19am

Just to give you an idea that I am not exaggerating...I have a slight ADD issue...

Debbie, send all those to me!!!

Seriously though the are gorgeous, definitely sell them.

KayTStudio 2008-11-08 8:59am

Wow, if I was not so seriously short of money I see at least 4 sets that I would be more than happy to make into jewelry. Beautiful work!

teachertracey 2008-11-08 9:07am

Ummmm, those crazy necklaces are awesome. I want one.

You need to list your hoards, Deb. Get those babies out there!

Cosmo 2008-11-08 9:12am

What is this "set" you speak of?

pierces*designs 2008-11-08 9:44am

You could make a "set" of marbles. LOL

agreed!

Usually when I sell sets they are just sets of 5. However when I make sets to create jewelry myself, they are sets of 7 :)

Kalera 2008-11-08 8:38pm

Your beads are so pretty! you should sell them!

I usually make sets of 8 or 10.

Reenie 2008-11-08 8:54pm

Debbie,
You are your own worst enemy:-) I have room to talk because I do the same. You'll never know how they will sell until you put them up there.
In fact, do you see the orangy yellow set in the first pic, bottom row? Just put those up and I'll be sure to bid!!!!
Go do it. Quit being a perfectionist cuz guess what? You'll never be perfect ;-)

KayTStudio 2008-11-09 6:42am

Ha! That's the first set I was drawn to. Well that and the set that's up 3 rows. lol

nagibeads 2008-11-09 8:55am

WOW!!! SOOOO yummy!!!! Beautiful beads!!!
Debbie! That is an amazing collection of beads--you HAVE TO HAVE TO start selling them!! WOW!!

And that necklace is to die for!!!
I think it is Gallery time for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS: Do you sleep?

Karen Hardy 2008-11-09 10:35am

Deb,
Here's my advice to you (as one professional bead hoarder to another).

Try this...
Make "sets" of ten random beads. No special order. No special colors.
Just pick ten beads you like.

Take a picture of them.

List them on Etsy as a "Random set".

That should get your feet wet and start you on your way.
You won't have to worry about all the details or anything else.

paminmd 2008-11-09 11:02am

How many of us are also ADD?

(I'm not sure if I can post this here....& I'm not trying to take over your thread...... )
But, your comment made me wonder how many of us are ADD.
I believe I am the poster child for ADD
Pam
