Opinion on kiln
I am looking at upgrading to a larger kiln. Been on an Aim 8" kiln for 10 years. Need more space.
I am looking at the chilipepper kiln. Is it a good choice or have there been issue with it? Also has anyone ever worked with Soul Ceramics before? I've not heard of them. Thanks Dia |
I've got a chili pepper and I love it. Super easy to operate, good capacity for my needs, and really reliable. Haven't had it trip a breaker or any internal issues. It's been great.

Can't give you an opinion on the chili pepper kiln I can give you an opinion on Soul Ceramics. I have worked with Soul Ceramics on 8 different occasions. They have been the best to work with. I ordered 6 kilns for the place I was working for and 2 for personal use. One of the ones I ordered was a custom built one of a kind kiln, Soul was able to locate someone to build it and have it made for me. As my luck goes it was damaged in shipping. 1 quick email, 1phone call, and another email to send pics of the damage, Soul said they would take care of it. 17 days later a new custom ordered kiln was delivered to my door. 12 hours later a follow up phone call to make sure the second one arrived and to make sure I was happy. Hard to find customer service like the folks at Soul Ceramics provide these days.

Except for the controller of the kiln I built myself back 2007 or something I can not think of any kilns that have been troublesome at all.
My controller was one of those that the manual was translated through 8 different languages before some one rewrote it in something kind of like english but that was my own fault for going cheap in my build. (Well, there wasn't much of a selection at the time either.) I assume that the kind with the guillotine door could be annoying for bead makers because the door dumps the heat out every time it is opened but other than that I don't know of any that folks have complained about. Perhaps I just have not noticed negative comments about kilns. |
I love my chili pepper. I had to swap out a relay once. Otherwise very reliable, lightweight, and a cheerful color. :)

Holds a lot of beads, really portable - grab it by the handle and take it anywhere, heats up fast, nicely priced. I love mine. I have a Bluebird XL, and love it too. The brick kiln heats up more slowly, but does not lose heat as fast when you open the door to put in beads.

I love the BLUEBIRD XL.
Love. Love. Love. Gets hot enough for fusing, too. Very versatile and roomy. |
I've had my chilipepper for years. Works fine, never had any trouble.

What are you using it for?
