Any Ideas How to Use Mica Powder?
Hi Everybody,
Has anyone tried working with mica powders? I bought some at the glass convention but I have no clue at the torch tonight on how to use it..so if anybody could share some of the experiences or creations I should would love to see...Thanks Scrappy |
Pixie Dust
Hi! I bought some pixie dust also and just found out how to use it! Make a base bead, roll it in the mica, heat, then VERY quickly roll the bead on a wet sponge or wet paper towels. This removes the excess powder, as mica powder does not stick to itself. Word of warning though, have proper ventilation and wear a mask, this stuff gets all over the place! It's also hard to get back into the container once you are done. Kind of a pain to work with but it does make a diffrent look to your beads. One thing to try as an example would be dark purple clear, then roll the bead in red pixie dust. Cool effect. Good luck!
