Samma,
Were those your first? They look great!

samandsha 2008-08-02 5:30pm

Rob - Thanks...not my first boro, but my first wavy beads. Your tute just made them look so fun, I couldn't resist.
Samma

Deb 2008-08-02 5:34pm

Rob, thank you for the great tutorial! I finally broke out the boro sample pack that has been collecting dust on my shelf. Here are my very first boro beads. 8-[ I think I'm hooked!

Edit to add: I've had several people pm me asking what colors I used in the wave beads. I used a twistie made with a clear core and 2 stripes of caramel luster and 2 stripes of blue moon

lripster 2008-08-02 5:45pm

Whoo Hoo, Deb and Samma!! Those are great!!

Deb 2008-08-02 5:49pm

Thanks Lisa. I'm off to make more boro twisties! :D

rckeyes 2008-08-02 5:59pm

Deb,
Those look magnificent. I sometimes find that making the twisting is just as much fun as making the beads!

Reenie 2008-08-02 6:05pm

Will this work the same with 104 coe glass? Or are we going to just get mush?

rckeyes 2008-08-02 6:18pm

Irene,
When you get to the point where you melt everything down Just go slow and be patient. It should work just fine.

Deb 2008-08-02 7:12pm

Thank you Rob! I can see that I'm going to need a lot more clear. I noticed that there are several manufacturers. Can anyone recommend one? Thanks!

rckeyes 2008-08-02 8:04pm

Deb, I use schott artistic and i get mine from Generations Glass. U can get a mess of
6mm rod for next to nothing. Kristian from Generations glass will even cut the 4 foot sections in half for shipping.

Deb 2008-08-02 8:13pm

Thanks Rob! :D I'll check it out.

I didn't see anything on their site - but do you know if they
are still offering a discount for WC and LE members?
I know they did in the past (like, last year - past).
I want to get me some of that Schott Artistic!

I tried this with Black Pearl tonight. It worked great. Thanks so much for sharing it!!

tammydownunder 2008-08-04 11:15pm

This was a fun bead to make. Too bad I did it in such ugly colors :)

Thanks for a great tut!

LouiseI 2008-08-05 4:21am

Rob thank you for your clear tutorial!
I've been trying these with soft glass and now know that I'm probably melting things in too quickly - your pictures are excellent for showing the process!!

Here's one of mine I did with soft glass, it's a bit of a variation as I only put the twisty around the outside of the disk. And it was made before your tut, so now I can go back and revisit the idea - thank YOU :waving:

cherie 2008-08-05 5:43am

I love the twistie method, Im going to try this once I get a chance to torch.

Thanks for the excellent tutorial!

Deb 2008-08-05 11:52am

You guys are terrible for my wallet .

rckeyes 2008-08-05 1:38pm

=D>Tammy - Great first try.
Louise - I kinda like that look, I may try just the twisty on the top.
Deb - Ooooohh, yummy looking. What did you use for the pink ones. I think the color combinations are endless with boro as you never know what you`ll get when you twist 2 or 3 colors together.

Nice Job everyone=D>

Karen Hardy 2008-08-05 1:39pm

Oh, Deb - these are smokin hot!
Share the colors????? Pretty please????

Like all boro, they do look better in the sun. :-DHere's what I used for these three.

Pink - Twistie with clear core, 2 swipes of NS Bubblegum, 2 swipes of Am. Beauty (Momka, I think), 2 swipes of NS Mystery Adventurine, 2 swipes of Caribbean Coral (I think that was the name, the label was hard to read, from Momka)

Blue - Twistie with clear core, 2 swipes of something labeled UN (NS unobtanium ?), 2 swipes of Peacock Chameleon, 2 swipes of NS Irrid, 2 swipes of NS Blue Caramel

Dark - Twistie made only of Momka Silver Dance
