In addition to the above colors, I like pink striker for flowers, or a thin layer of violet striker. They both separate and give a more variegated petal appearance.

There are several odd lavender colors. Gonzo Grape, lavender, to name a few that are a solid lavender wafer type color.

I agree on the above listed and I'll add Dusty Lilac for the purples. I just love that color.

Thanks for this thread! I'm thinking of exploring a little, and was trying to figure out how to come up with 10-12 colors to try, and found this thread.

I am glad it helped Eileen! I still use the palette that I started with based on this thread. I have added some colors here and there, but the advice I received here served me well. The frit was a great piece of advice! Also, look to Howaco when purchasing if you aren't sure who to buy from. You can just buy a rod or two, or buy in 1/4 to full pound increments. Jamielynn is great to deal with too!

One thing I'm curious about is how well the melted colors match the rods on the shelf. I'm going to be at Art Glass House in a few weeks, and can pick for myself, but don't know if it's WYSIWYG, or "surprise!" once you pull the piece from the kiln.

I really don't like just giving you a link to a site, but not all rods, stringers and Frit are WYSIWYG. Some strike, some reduce, and some react very nicely. That link will show you all the rods available both before and after flame strike.
