Copper patina solution
 

Where can I get some? They used to carry it at Home Depot. Tried my stained glass store and JoAnn's Crafts. I've been trying all this past weekend using home remedies with vinegar, lemon, etc., etc. Nothing has worked yet. Haven't tried urine yet and I think I'll pass on that one. I need one that will give me instant patina and by this next weekend. I haven't tried Lowe's yet or a pottery supply store. They are on my list for tomorrow. Anyone else have any ideas of where to go? I'm trying to finish a sculptural piece for an art exhibit and have to turn it in by June 2nd, so I don't want to risk trying to order online and have it delivered in enough time to put this all together. I would be starting to get stressed about now (yes, I am a procrastinator), but fortunately I live in a house that has a very old, 1930's, copper roof. No, I'm not ripping off my roof to complete this project, but Mother Nature did rip off a piece that fortunately my husband didn't throw away. It is definitely patinaed, but some may not be usable due to deteriation. So I need a source to find the patina solution in case I need to use new copper sheeting.

Have you tried a boiled egg? Eggs have sulfur and isn't that the active ingredient in patina solution?

try sawdust and amonia in a ziplock bag, put your item in it, close the ziplock bag and put it in a pan on top of your kiln so it warms up a bit.

The active stuff in copper patina that the stained glass shops should have is copper sulfate. You might find it at a garden shop since in large doses it will kill algae. Dissolve it in water or acid and go for it.

Thanks for the link! Lots to look at here. I have copper nitrate and it hasn't done anything yet, but I think my problem is with the copper sheeting I have. I believe it has a lacquer finish on it which I need to remove and then I should get the desired results.

If it has a lacquer finish, it has to come off. If you have a scorchbrite pad, you might try that in an inconspicious area, otherwise a solvent would do the trick.
