Proper electroforming cleanup?
Curious, when electroforming anything. After clean up, what do use with the extra bits of acid on the beaker and stuff? Neutralize them with baking soda? Then throw it in the trash? Im new to it, and disposal of extra bits of copper and acid make me nervous, yet i cant find anything on the proper way of disposing of such things. Like when i clean up and put the acid solution back in its container, iwhat do i do with the extra copper sludge and bits that have acid reminance???

Also, are you allowed to just rinse stuff off in the sink? I feel like thats a big no??

contact your local waste disposal facility (the dump), most of them have some kind of program to accept household chemicals, paint, etc.

It's a sulfuric/nitric acid mixture. You can neutralize it with either baking soda or washing soda (washing soda is more efficient). Dilute the sludge with water and add the soda, doing it outdoors as it will fizz and foam a bit as well as probably get a little hot. The result is a relatively harmless salt that can be washed down the drain.
