Propane Regulator leak issue - should I fix or buy new?

Hi
Dying to torch and went out this am to set up. I connected to the propane tank, opened the main valve and could hear and smell the propane hissing out.

turned it off immediately, and then I tried it a couple more times after reseating the connector - it happened every time.

SO, do I bother trying to fix the regulator, or should I just buy a new one? How expensive is it to get fixed, any ballpark numbers? A new one is around $70...I probably should just buy new.

I'm bummin because its the weekend and I got new glass so I was so psyched to go out and torch.....:( oh well.

DARNIT!!

Try something as a leak detector (soapy water) and determine exactly where leak is. It may not be regulator.... It may be tank.... There is a seal piece built into tank valve assembly where regulator connects and it may be defective.... Try a different tank or try to tighten connection more.....

IF your regulator has the rounded shout on end (no "o" ring) and it is smooth and not scratched or scraped it probably is not a problem...

If you determine that connector piece on regulator is the problem it is replaceable at any quality welding service shop.... Its a $6-10 dollar part and probably a labor charge....
