Pale aqua/ blue transparent colour of boro.

Hi! I am a total newbie to boro glass. I am looking for a very pale aqua kind of colour in a rod, that I would like to etch, to look like frosted water in my design. can anyone suggest such a colour in boro that would work? Thank you so much!

Welcome!
SaltCity glass has a wide selection, and they sell by the rod for newbies like us. Great to try things out and a little goes a long way.

No suggestions on the color, I'm sure you will find something there that works for you. But not sure about the etching. I think tumbling works for boro, but not chemical etching.

Would love to see it.

Maybe Glass Alchemy Rain Drop.

More important .. LOL ... how do you plan to etch. You cannot use chemical etch on boro it doesn't work. You have to tumble for-ever or sandblast.

North Star has a color called, I think Glacier or Glacial that might fit the bill.

Thank you for all of your help! I was totally unaware that chemical etching doesn't work on boro. I do have the use of a Lortone 3A tumbler. What do I use as the abrasive? Thanks!

I have two abrasive. One is a small caribbean reef mix aquarium gravel that I use for a more natural (rougher) look and the other is a 120/220 carbide grit mix that gives a nice smooth, satiny finish.

Be aware that the tumbling doesn't etch into indentations. Where the etching product does on the soft glass beads.

I've gotten an etched look by tugging and twisting slightly while the glass was cooling. It's really stretch marks and not generally wanted, but it works well with clear icicles. Never tried it with trans color. hmmm
