Here is a one sheet of the GSW schedule -- easy reference and can tuck it into your pocket.

Have fun choosing your classes! Don't worry, you can't go wrong!

Deb, your grandson is adorbs!

THANK YOU! I wish I had checked in here before bugging Deb! Printing and ticking off my choices as we speak! Tucking in purse. Good to go! :waving:\\:D/

Thanks for the class forms Patty, I know it will be handy for everyone, you rock! Thanks for the compliments on the grand son, he is SUCH a good baby and so adorb!

Mel, ok, will keep an eye out for it.

Nita, that is very sweet, as are you! That will save our Canadian peeps some $!

Julie, great, Patty is amazing at the PC! No problem emailing with questions and advice, I can always use suggestions on how to make it better for everyone, thanks sweetie!

Ok, class selection this Sat (and Maybe Sunday) but we will try and finish in one day. We will give 3 calls per person, if no answer we move on, we will try the other numbers you gave us too. PLEASE call us back asap if you missed a call (the phone number should show up on most folks phones).

Looking forward to a fun weekend chatting with you all!
Hugs, deb and the GS West team ;)

tick....tick...tick..... 45 minutes to class selection!
I just wanted to let everyone know who may have missed the email that JC Herrell's "Joy of Working Cooler" has been changed to another "Joy of Stringer" class due to popular demand!

She will demo her working cooler class one evening during open torch (goody bribes for her accepted, the girl loves candy!)
Talk to you all in a few minutes!
WOOHOO! xoxo deb ;)

JulieV 2014-06-14 9:22am

I'm practically sitting on my phone! I live in a pretty remote area, so as soon as it rings, I'll have to dash to the kitchen cuz reception is best out there. lol

jeepinwelch 2014-06-14 9:35am

I am sitting here with the schedule and my phone. At least I know I have a few minutes to run to the bathroom!

jeepinwelch 2014-06-14 10:47am

This waiting is horrible!

artsyuno 2014-06-14 12:22pm

LOL. Isn't it? I remember being totally neurotic my first year, because I was making beads and have a horrible habit of not hearing my cell phone ring. I changed the ringer to the most annoying ringtone I could find. It sounded like an air raid siren, but I didn't miss the calls. :)

Annanewatit 2014-06-14 12:45pm

Whooo-hooo! I'm going and I got all the classes I hoped to get!!!!

Somehow the bit about everybody doing a demo got by me and caused me momentary panic but I'll figure out something. As a noob you can bet it will be a bit rinky dink. I'm sooo excited to have this total glass immersion and to meet you all.

Great talking to you, Deb

Anna

Nitadee 2014-06-14 12:48pm

I too hated the waiting! Went EVERYWHERE with my phone...and yep...even the bathroom! And you know what? The second year, That's where I was when the phone rang :lol:
:love::love:

artsyuno 2014-06-14 1:58pm

Anna, rinky dink is absolutely fine. It's all about getting comfortable lampworking in front of others so that you'll have fun during class and open torch. Plus, sometimes those a ha moments come from seeing someone do something slightly differently then you've been doing it, even if it seems simple. Your opening demo doesn't have to be where you stretch yourself. You'll do enough of that in your classes. :)

Annanewatit 2014-06-15 10:23am

Thanks for the comforting words, Felicia. I'll come up with something :) If I've learned anything it's that lampworkers are the nicest group of people and I probably won't get scoffed at.
I clicked on your web link... I think I met you at the Whole Bead show in Lynwood a few months ago. I recognized your white enameled beads right away. I like your style.

artsyuno 2014-06-15 10:41am

Thanks! I'll look forward to meeting you again at the August Fire and Rain meeting or at Glass Stock.

You definitely won't get scoffed at. It's a very supportive bunch.

deb c 2014-06-15 12:00pm

Thanks Anna, Felicia and Nita, you girls are the BEST!
Jody, I am sorry it is so nerve-wracking, but it is kind of fun and exciting to see what you get, although everyone got almost every class they wanted, wooohooo!

Julie, you are sooo cute! I was reminded by JulieV about her quote from last year which I just LOVE, thanks Julie! I have heard similar feedback over the years and it is what makes me push on when the supply list or other lengthy task is looming, like now ;) So I'll share this again with you all!

"Just wanted to add that I've been to quite a few events in my 10 years of lampworking. This is the ONLY one where I felt soft glass workers were held on the same 'plane' as boro workers. Everyone accepted everyone; it didn't matter what type of glass you melted. It seemed to me we were all just there for the love of glass period. No snobs, no assholes, no jerks. No pressure, no formalities; a laid back atmosphere where anyone would feel welcome."

Ah....what music to my ears....my mission....joy!
Thanks to everyone for being so on the ball yesterday, the calls took about 5 hours and except for a few "sorry, that's full" on the end of the second round everyone got just what they wanted! It was wonderful to talk with every one of you this year and thanks to my son Pat for doing all the writing when he would have rather blown some glass, lol!

There are openings for a few more folks, full classes should be posted on the GS site schedule at bottom of page by Charlie this week. If someone is thinking about attending, I will let them pick their classes now from what is still open and hold them 7 days awaiting tuition payment. First come, first to get them and there are still quite a few torch classes open, even a couple featured artist spots!

Our theme this year is Pirates, we will be implementing a new game that will run throughout the event with folks showing their plunder on Sunday after elimination contest. It is nothing you have to go anywhere to do...no more hints...info at the Meet and Greet!

I will be emailing everyone a special newsletter today explaining the contests, demonstrations, art faire and other fun, optional things to jump into this year!

Tired, sore ear, happy and a smilin',
xoxo deb

houptdavid 2014-06-15 3:39pm

jeepinwelch 2014-06-18 9:12am

I'm a total sucky pirate. I'll be the one who had my tongue cut out when captured by an enemy pirate band. That way I can just nod my head and I won't have to speak.

houptdavid 2014-06-18 6:20pm

Just Google wench costume, I'm sure you'll come up with something ;)

deb c 2014-06-19 10:18am

Jody, girl, I'm half deaf (eardrum gone) so we could do the "Speak no evil, Hear no evil" thing... kind of like the Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder movie....:)

deb c 2014-06-19 10:19am

SO helpful!

David, you are sooo helpful sweetie! I don't see any benefit to you helping all the cute girls turn into wenches.....you are just so darn nice!!! \\:D/

Nitadee 2014-06-19 1:54pm

:lol::lol::lol:
You peeps are cracking me up!!!

Just a heads up, I'll be doing the Glass T-shirt Orders again this year. So watch your emails for a note from me (nitatibbets@yahoo.com) The subject line will contain GSW T-shirts.
Please watch your spam boxes too...as some of you don't have me on your "okay" list ;)

I'm SO excited! I can't hardly stand it. ARRRGH (in my best pirate themed voice) :D

Nitadee 2014-06-19 11:14pm

And the emails have been sent!!! Thanks to those who responded in that first couple of hours! Made my head spin!!!

deb c 2014-06-22 10:11pm

Thanks Nita, you rock! You have saved me countless hours and after such a huge master Supply list compiled for West and East my head is still spinning but ALL sponsor letters (2 dozen!) with itemized requests forms going out tomorrow! All the supplies for over 90 classes in one giant list times all the students, that is a ship-load of glass ;)

Glass faeries spread your wings, we need a lot of glass!
Hugs, deb ;)

Nitadee 2014-06-23 1:03am

Aww Deb, thanks so much! It's really my pleasure!
Whew! That's a lot of sponsor letters! And the master Supply list...oy!
You rock woman! Thank you so much for all you do, which I know is a LOT! There is so much more that goes on "behind the scenes" as it were. I have no idea how you do it!
:love::love:

deb c 2014-06-24 8:01pm

Thanks Nitadearone! It is a sh##ton of work to do the supplies, I always dread that part :( But it comes after class selection when I get to talk to all of you so it's easier!

But then you guys all make me SO darn happy at the event it is worth MUCH more time and sweat, it is the best glass vaca I could dream up for everyone!
xoxo deb

If anyone hasn't booked lodging yet, get on it! There's a football game labor day weekend so a lot of hotels and rental houses have raised the rates or are already booked.
