This is just what I was looking for! I gotta go buy some studs and make some earrings :)
Shawnette, I just have one follow up question - how do you put them in the kiln, when they're ready? I mean if you just putthemon the floor of the kiln they're gonna deform, aren't they?

No, I treat them just like beads and put them on the kiln floor. Just like beads, you don't put them in until they've firmed up.

Thanks :)
I tried to make one yesterday on a simple jewelry pin we use for jewelry making - it was hard to manage with simple pliers and it burned wuite a bit, so it looks ugly :) I guess even at something as basic as this I need more experience.

Get some long hemostats. You can hold the middle like a mandrel. I also have a couple of long pin vises that work well, but I prefer the hemostats. You can get both at http://www.widgetsupply.com/.

Cool, thanks! I'll definetely buy some.
