Agua Chameleon replacement?
Anyone know of a good color to replace Agua Chameleon? GA again doing away with one of my favs. :(
An aqua with a touch of silver...I've got 2 sticks left and don't see much close to it. |
They got rid of one of my favorites too, Jamboree 😓 I have like 6 inches of it left
|
Jamboree is gone?!? I wish they'd send out emails or something when they do away with this stuff.
|
Before the transition to the "kidz" they did give a heads up.
I'm actually pretty disgusted with AG only because every glass of theirs I love ... they discontinue. Now I'm afraid to let myself try and possibly adore any of their glass for fear it will hit kill list. And while I'm complaining ... what is with all the transparent colors everyone is creating??? I like my silver reactives and that's what they keep killing off. On a happier note: I'm in love with Molten Aura Labs colors. |
Rebecca NS has a Silver Aqua ... I've never gotten it to do much for me besides be Aqua ...also Molten Aura has Calypso which isn't quite Aqua but does some fun things.
|
Thanks Laura. I'll have to check out Calypso. You have any pics of something made with it?

Let me see if I still have my test bead photos.
Okay here were the first blush ... crappiest ones. I did others after this I liked better but didn't save the photo (and many of the beads are in the "to go to BOC" box. Left to right: meta terrania base, can't remember the name but the cartoon blue base with Hot Flash Frit's Midnight Hour, the light blues are Calypso with I can't remember what frit and then a Quasar (I think) with Hippie Chick from Hot Flash Frit. |
Thanks Laura! If they could mix that meta whatever with Calypso and throw a bit of silver in...\\:D/
MGA is out of Calypso for now. I got on the mailing list for it. |
Check directly with Molten Aura ... the may have some or have "abnormals" which are just funky shaped rods.
They also have alot of cool pictures on their website. I need to look but both Marilyn Ure and Keri Mullen use it in their work. Keri does mostly marbles ... marilyn has fab octopi!! Looks like MAL has it in stock ... both regular and abnormal. https://moltenaura.com/our-glass |
Here is a link to Keri's videos ... I didn't find Calypso ... I think that was Marilyn but here is Metaterrania imploded. Sooooo pretty.
Hopefully this video is public. https://www.facebook.com/keri.mullen...type=3&theater And Marilyn's Calypso kraken: https://www.etsy.com/listing/4657896...m_campaign=api |
That's pretty! And OMG did you see Tantric?!? Dark ivory boro. neeeeed
I'm a little worried that some of these say 'higher coe' but it doesn't seem like people are having problems. |

I haven't had any issues in my experiments ... I was gifted half rods of most of the available colors besides Quasar which I already bought. Quasar washes out if encased but unencased is lots of fun and a beautiful purpley pink.
It seems from reading is if you do bigger sculptural ... you need to make sure to keep it hot, hot, hot ... which for us soft glass girls shouldn't be much of an issue. LOL One of the MAL fleshtones with my Java Junkie frit: |
That's nice! And my glass list is growing. lol
|
Ohhh. I contacted MAL and got permission to make and sell their glass as frit.
I snagged Calypso but Quasar was out. Other colors I should add to my "smashing" list. |
For an experiment (I don't have any aqua or aqua chameleon or I'd try too) you could try mixing plain aqua with Plum Krazy (NS 93). That's always seemed to me to be basically clear with silver.
|
Congrats Laura! And thanks Donna! My glass list is growing. No Plum Krazy but I might try some other light silver stuff.
|
Bring back clover chameleon.... please .....
|
and Havana Moon and Jamboree and Spring Luster ... and Silver Strike #3 and, and, and ... I'm sure there are more that just are not springing to mind at the moment.
If I wanted Lollipop colored transparents ... I'll work my soft glass. |
