How do you use it to make beads?

It is in frit form, so all you need to do is roll a hot bead in it.
Super easy to use.
Thanks for asking!
Ron

Oooo....looks like fun!! What kind if flame works best? Does it like to be worked cool or hot?

MagpieGlass 2014-09-15 11:38am

From what I have read it prefers to be worked cool (but that statement was made in reference to glow boro). Hopefully Ron will bop back in and confirm or deny.

I have it in COE independent powder form but never have managed to break it out and try it .... yet.

Mina 2014-09-15 11:46am

My daughter LOVES glow in the dark. Might be fun to try my hand at making her something with glow in the dark, but I just don't know enough about it to invest money into...yet.

R4GlassStudio 2014-09-15 1:51pm

Hi,
Glow powders need to be worked cool, but these are not that product. This is glass, not power, so you can work it just like normal Effetre.

I do have some FUN Glow Boro in the works.... more to come soon.

I have been getting requests for smaller amounts, so we are going to offer a two oz pack for $18 which includes shipping in a bubble envelope.

Mina 2014-09-15 3:22pm

Can you give me an idea of what 2 oz represents bead wise? how many beads like the one in the necklace picture you posted would it make and how big is that bead? just so I have an idea how much yield 2oz represents. Will it still glow if it is encased?

R4GlassStudio 2014-09-16 6:57am

HI,
2 oz would be about the same amount of glass as three 13" Effetre rods. You can encase the glow glass and you can can also roll it over a base color. Doing that, you could make a lot of beads with 2 oz.
Thanks,
Ron

Thanks Ron. Good to know. Maybe after a "play" with my powders ... I'll need to add glass to the mix.

Laura,
If you have powders, dry mix it with clear frit, then use it. It will help some.

R4GlassStudio 2014-10-03 11:19am

Ravenesque,
I will have to check on the boro. I had it in the studio on the shelf behind my torch, but Rocio is there packing everything up to move to the new studio. I may need to get back with you in a few days when I locate that box.
Ron

Hi there!

I just bought glow powder and wish to put it in a stringer so I can specifically place it where I want it. It didn't glow after rolling it in hot glass and then pulling a stinger. What is the best way to accomplish what I'm after?

Thanks!!!!

R4GlassStudio 2018-07-04 7:04pm

What kind of powder did you buy? There are many versions out there which all work differently.
