Had to Paint the Other End of the shed

I'm waiting to take delivery of some PVC pipe to better store my glass, now that it's outgrown my present system.

So, I need extra room on my table for that, which means I've had to reconfigure the shed, which means I've had to turn everything around the other way to accommodate more floor things near the power source. The crockpot is now off the table, and the kiln (under the black tarp) is in a better position to open more safely (it was against the opposite end, with the door opening to the wall).
Everything in here is improvised, so it's been a challenge to get things the way I'm happy with.
It's a plain, rusted-up, unlined garden shed on a concrete pad (thank goodness!), with little light, but plenty of fresh air.
I found an old lazy susan that I'd had kicking around for a while, so I've used that to put all the tools on, so the new rod storage will fit on both sides of the torch when I get them cut and braced. I can then use the existing glass storage for 'special' glasses, to easily keep it all separate. As it is now, it's a PITA to find the colours I'm looking for amongst everything else crowding it.

oops! Sorry about the big pics of the 'before'. Not sure what happened there.

What a fun & inspiring space you have now! Love it!

essiemessy 2012-04-29 7:29pm

Thanks, Eileen :-) Working will be even more fun when I can just grab my glass without having to hunt for it first ;-)

AvenueBeads 2012-04-29 8:05pm

How fun is that! Did you use spray paint?

essiemessy 2012-04-29 8:07pm

Yep :-D A very, very forgiving medium. Not to mention quick!

That's betterer :-D

It's so pretty all lined up & arranged!

flamingobeth 2012-05-03 2:53pm

I love it!!!

essiemessy 2012-05-08 3:43pm

Thank you both :-)
It works just fine. So nice having the crockie off the table. I haven't fired up the kiln yet since changing it all around, but I hope the pyrometer sits better on its little surface than it did on a 1-litre paint can  It is stored much better now it has its own corner, too.
I'm just looking around a bit more for the glass, only because it's all moved around

After #3

I scored a desk & chair for $20 at a garage sale, which worked out really well to keep the oxycon off the floor and away from the concrete dust.
With the kiln clicking away behind me, and the oxycon breathing in front of me, it's almost like being in the womb - it's all working beautifully and I feel like I'm being looked after - if that makes any sense at all..

That looks cool! Nice workspace. :)

essiemessy 2012-06-23 7:56pm

:-)
Oh, having been inspired by you to get one of those frogs, I got around to using it for the first time yesterday :-)

Mountain Snail 2012-06-23 8:01pm

How did it work for you? I have made a few lopsided bubble marbles.

essiemessy 2012-06-23 8:03pm

 I made a lopsided round, but very pink bead :-D
Worked fine - I just had to wait a couple of seconds for the second side of the bead to come away from the points - I realised it's still quite warm from the first touch.

I stuck one and had to quench it, the other one did great. It is definitely a learning process.

essiemessy 2012-06-23 8:05pm

Yep. It certainly is that! But what fun.

cgbeads 2012-06-24 9:20am

How fun. I think you need to come visit my studio.

-D

essiemessy 2012-06-24 1:10pm

Are you kidding??? I'd love that!

I've been in one other beadmaker's workspace, ever, and that was recently. Was fantastic. I think one of these days I'd like to do a studio crawl

A neighbour who does china painting and goes to classes wants to bring her teacher and other participants around to mine - only because she's seen what I do with china paints on glass. She hasn't seen my palace/ladycave yet, so I hope she's not got any expectations
But it would be good to show non-beaders how it's done - especially people who fire stuff repeatedly to get a piece finished, like china painters do.
