try shaping your iris out of black(i use onyx)...
try shaping your iris out of black(i use onyx) ie; round, diamond, etc, then roll it in amber purple frit(large size) and pull. Eye millis in about 5 min with very little waste.

thats the thing......Most flames have all 3 zones within them....ie reducing neutral etc..
Its a matter of figuring out where within any given flame is the enviroment you want.

I always screw my ducting together. I use 1/4" self tapping screws, and go from one piece into the other locking them into place, then tape. Like mike said the tin tape is ideal for venting.
