I don't like them either. I think it's the fact they don't have a head that puts me off. Occasionally I see some with a head, and I like them a bit better. Still have no urge to make one though!!

Be careful with Reichenbach white, it doesn't like being encased and can cause cracking. I'm not sure if this was just a batch thing, but quite a few of us in the UK had issues with it a while back.

Just try one bead initially - I went back to it after 3 years, thought "sod it, I'll have one more go before I throw this glas out" and blow me down, that bead actually worked. I repeated it again...

DH Zephyr all the way, and I don't give a damn that it's expensive. Glorious for encasing, buttery soft and crystal clear. The only thing I don't like it for is raised dots, I find it melts in too...
