When I get new glass, I run the whole batch...

When I get new glass, I run the whole batch through my dishwasher. I store in blueprint drawers. When I pull to melt I get need to get a light swipe with a microfiber towel.

After etching, I put my beads in a baking soda...

After etching, I put my beads in a baking soda solution until they stop fizzing. It neutralizes the etch. Then I wash and clean them.

As far as removing the cabs goes, a good soak with a small splash of fabric...

Congrats. I'm glad you were able to get a clean yellow. The same thing can happen on any torch, so give yourself the grace to survive the learning curve.
