Great work newbie!

Does anyone know what the current Vetrofond at Artistry in Glass (Canada) is like? I ordered 1/2 a lb yesterday, before seeing this thread.

The Hot Head can do miniature glass blowing to about 2 inches... I use Tink's hollow mandrels and have no problem blowing small vessels.

Having used both the minor and a hot head I...

Propylene

I am now using the "Fat Boy" Propylene canisters as I can't get Mapp Pro any more. I can work for an hour without freezing up. However, I like the idea and would try it if the "Fat Boy's" had not...

I found propane to be dirty. Both for my torch and for my beads. I did try on different cannisters and had the same issue on each. I use either Mapp Pro or MPS gas exclusively now.

MPS GASS

Replying only to the gas issue and not to the safety aspects --- MPS gas works great for me - more like the old MAPP, however I use both the MAPP Pro and MPS interchangably now - just needed to get...

No issues with melting clear

I work on a HH and have no issues with melting clear... I use Mapp Pro or MPS gas as it gets hotter and is cleaner than propane. I have even pulled down the 10mm rods of clear without any issues.

Kiln first

I work on a HH at home and rent time on a minor (the bigger torch does not mean better beads for me - just faster). I can do nicer stringer work on the HH and I use MPS or MappPro gas.

I am so...

I had the same problems with Fireworks Bead release. Either it would crack and release the bead while I was still working it or I would end up with garden stakes. I have not had one release break...

Love the HH.

I work with both a minor and a HH. I prefer the HH for sculptured beads, making stringer, and blowing small vessels. I like the minor for larger works. I know the HH is wasteful of gas. However,...

Love MPS Gas now!

\\:D/=D>\\:D/

Now that I have adjusted to the MPS gass I am no longer missing the MAPP gas. I am getting just as nice "beads" as I did on MAPP. Took about 2 sessions to adjust.

MPS gass works!

I have tried the MPS gas and found it to be cleaner than propane for my beads. I still would prefer to use MAPP, however, it may simply be a matter of adjusting my work habits to suit the gas.
