I’ve used this method to attach bails to off-mandrel pieces with great success but I usually go the other way around ~ first I make the off mandrel pendant piece (leaving it on the punty) and put it into the kiln. Then make a small spacer bead in whatever color is needed. Attach the pendant to the bead making sure it’s aligned properly and a good hot seal. Let the join set up for a few seconds and then burn off the punty. Make sure the punty is at the bottom of the pendant, it can be awkward to remove if it’s not positioned correctly.
