Jo Wu made the pendant and left the bottom tip open, tucked a kernal up inside and then used the flame to just close the tip. Later on, she held the pendant in long tweezers and put it over a gas stove to pop the kernal. We had a lot of fun trying to figure out how she did it but she did tell me when I asked.
I thought it would be fun to share.
