After I have put the murrini on the bead, I don't apply any direct heat. I make circles with the flame around the murrini to gently heat it. I then use a butter knife to press the murrini into the bead surface. I touch the heated murrini with the butter knife, but I do not press it in for a second. This kind of chills the surface of the murrini so it doesn't get distorted. I repeat the above until the murrini is as flat as I want it. I rarely use clear. I hope that helps.
