I'm on tanked oxygen and anything I can do that results in less use of oxy is a plus. It's why I only use rods preheated in the kiln. I hate wafting in the flame knowing I'm using up oxy for something that could be avoided. The time I spend connecting two rods and waiting for the glass to stiffen to get the most level weld possible also brings me all the closer to an oxy refill. For my set up and working habits, this tool is wonderful.
