Phoebe, I've used both my Cricket with Propane and tanked oxygen and a Japanese B-8 torch with propane and room air compressed with an aquarium pump. No problems with either for me as long as I take my time. I have certainly found some colors more forgiving than others and get the expected reminder if I push it too hot too fast.
