Lately I've been using the background for 3 of the 5 pictures that etsy allows, and then adding in a shot of plain black background.
Do you think maybe a hybrid dealio like that could be the answer? Best of both worlds? It wouldn't be that much trouble as long as I figured out the lighting on the gradients.
I wonder...
