This is how I set mine up. You can put small stuff on top, but sitting it on the screen inside tends to work better. The screen keeps the softer glasses like white from sticking to the ceramic liner. I used a piece of screen gutter guard to line the bottom. I later added a grid taken from a grill to the support in the front so I can support very short rods, down to about 3 inches, and keep the tips hot.
