New Contest, Glass Give away, and more!
Hi,
I just updated The Torch, www.FrantzNewsletter.com.
1) Name the color contest!!! Frantz Art Glass will receive an air freight of glass Vetrofond ODDs. We don't know what the names should be so we are passing that duty off to you. We will post pictures of the new Vetrofond odd glass Friday, October 12th. I’ll be keeping the website up to date with any new information.
2) Along with our usual new and sale items, we are having a huge close-out sale this month. There were too many items to post on the website so I had to make the list a downloadable 4 page PDF.
3) The three words that were first used to describe the Nortel’s new Mega Minor bench burner were “Bigger Hotter Flame.”

It is a reliable, fuel efficient torch that is great for working with both soft glass and boro.
4) We got a new DVD by Timothy L Keyzers: “Phantom Flower Marble” flameworking demonstration.

This 30 minute semi-instructional demonstration video showcases the beauty and wonder of constructing a borosilicate “Phantom Flower” marble utilizing gold and silver fuming, clear boro tubing, a detailed spotting pattern, and controlled air traps.
5) Later this month Frantz will receive 5 new colors from CIM:
Thai Orchid
Lapis
Lapis Light Unique
Elphaba
Elphaba Dark Unique
6) We also got our hands on a small amount of Goldstone Ribbon. Click here for some examples of it used on beads.
7) And finally the last update is that the Big Glass Giveaway is continued for the month of October. For every 5 lbs of 104 COE glass that you order you'll get to pick 1 of the 14 gifts of free glass. And this month, if you buy 70 lbs you will also receive a pound of Vetrofond River Rock glass.

Yes the website is down right now, unfortunately. But it will be back online at 5:30 pt. Sorry for the inconvenience. But even though the website is down during business hours we are still taking phone orders.
Thanks,
Keith

Goldstone Holdup
The goldstone ribbon was supposed to be here on Wednesday, but we heard today that it got held up in customs in Germany. Once it makes it past Germany, it should be here in a matter of days. So if you order it now, we will ship it as soon as it arrives. SORRY!

Testing testing and more testing
It was getting late and I had my full of Coconut Shrimp, muscle curry, oyster fritters and much more. This weekend in Shelton is the OysterFest where all of the non profit organizations get togther at the Mason Country Fairgrounds to celebrate the oyster and each organization prepares and sells different food. It was raining and the dirt in front of the live band was getting muddy, yet many of the Frantz employees joined me in drinking beer and wine as we danced to the music of Bump Kitchen. The keyboard player of Bump Kithen is our warehouse manager and the music was awsome!
Kimberly A., Corina T. and myself took a break and tasted many different morsels from the sea and then got back to testing glass.
We tried to be as extenisve as possible, filling out forms for each color tested. We have tested for compatibility, how it reacted to different colors, shocky or not, how saturated the color was and the overall LIKE or NO LIKE of each color. By 8pm we decided to call it quits.
I was going to post throughout Saturday but the optic fiber line was down and I could not post. It is still down and I am posting from home.
This morning I will go back and will read the tester's notes and look at the tests.
All three testers were excited about this shipment of color and were sent home with more of them to test even more.
A few of the rods were a little shocky, but not close to how the first batch of Vetrofond odds from the previous shipment were. I am sure that Kimberly, Corina and Kevan will soon chime in when they get back on the torch with the samples they left with.
On Monday we will begin to photograph the paddles. We have come to realize that while a paddle may be beautiful, the color of the finished bead may be different at times. We will post as many pictures of beads or tests so that you can be better informed as to what each color can do.
I am hoping by Tuesday we will be able to post the photos and information and allow you to submit names for each color. Our plan is to look at all the name suggestions and pick the ones that we think are best and attach a name to a stock number. We will also begin cutting the rods into shorter lengths, tagging them with stock numbers, assembling the assortments and begin selling them by the end of the week.
If we pick your name for one of the colors, not only will you receive a free pound of that color, we will also include a 1/4 pound of each of the other 14 colors.
Since we have already named two colors there will be THIRTEEN winners!

Thanks Kimberly,
Yes, our web site will be down during business hours. But it will be back up at 5:30 pt. In the mean time we are taking phone orders and the newsletter site is up as well incase you need to get an item number. There is a PDF of our catalog on www.FrantzNewsletter.com. It's on the bottom row of buttons named "Catalog".
Also I’m am in the process of taking the photos and setting up the pages for the "Name the color" contest. I'll let you know when I update the page with the photos, rules and prizes.
