HELP!! Best Silver and Gold glass?
Please HELP!! I'm looking for input on what you guys have found to be the best TRUE metallic silver and gold and glass colors? It can be 90, 96, or 104 COE and I need suggestions for glass that isn't too finicky, if possible. I need to make a lot of spacers in each color for a big order and having trouble getting consistent results with a pure metallic finish and no colored undertones. (ugh!)
Thanks in advance! *Ü*

your mileage may vary, but i've had good luck with precision 104's rhembrandt. heavy reduction give a nice chrome finish.

The new Notos from Double Helix is a great silver. It is quick reducer too.

Thanks, ladies! *Ü*
I have some Rembrandt, but don't remember it going chrome on me—more green blue. I'll have to try reducing it more and see if I can get the silver!
I tend to get a range of silvery-golds and other oil-slick colors instead of true silver from Notos and Triton. Any tips on how to get it to turn silver consistently??

I get silver from Notos by flashing it in and out of a reduction flame no more than 10 times.

Triton for silver chrome....bring oxy way down without quite dragon's breath -candles are a good 10 inches long. Flash quick at the tip where it is still blue and just above the candles. Discovered this by accident when my power went out as I was finishing a really cool piece.

Devardi has some good true metallics in 104, but you have to use a Hot Head to get the shiny to come up.

Thanks so much for all the great advice and suggestions! I do have some of that Devardi metallic black and was going to break out my Hot Head to give it and the Rembrandt a try. Donna's trick worked fairly well for me too with the Triton, but not quite as bright silver as I was looking for, but I probably just need to play around with the flame a bit more to see what else I can get out of it? *Ü*

Another option if it doesn't have to be super shiny is to add a layer of mica powders. I've used these as a top layer without encasing and they give a nice matte metallic finish.

I have some black metallic glass from Devardi & I use propylene & oxygen & can get it to turn silver without a hot head. I take it out of the flame & let it cool then keep flashing it in & out of the flame until it turns silver.

What torch are you using? I have Propylene left from when I was on a HH. It's a giant tank and I hate it just sits there. But when I tried it out with my torch the Oxygen made it waaaay too bright to look at ....what's your secret?
