cold punty?
How do you do this?
Like if I made something on the end of a rod of glass and needed to get it unattached from that rod, by cold puntying it to another rod, so that I could eventually grab it with tweezers then fire polish it?
Does that make sense?

Hey Cakey~~~
Can I ask what type of glass you're working in (soft, boro)? And also how large are the pieces that you want to punty up? I replied to a similar question (regarding using a punty with 104) in this thread - Post #2:

Hope this helps!

Hey De! I'm just using Moretti 104. i just want to make some simple little heart pendants
without the holes from the mandrel going through them. Just want to know how to punty them with a second glass rod but then be able to unattach it easily to put it in the kiln. I guess I could use a mandrel to punty just as well as another glass rod. just want to be sure I can unattach it easily.

You could try using a 1/8th inch mandrel as your cold punty.

???
Cold seals are simple...take a clear rod(punty)...heat the very end till its orange..meanwhile keep your piece very warm(in red phase). Let the punty slightly cool(but not too cool) and press onto your piece. Honestly you should just practise on a bunch of scraps for a while because it takes practice to figure out the right time to attach punty and how hard to press.

I personally think it's easier to "detach" a metal punty than a glass one when using 104 - but that's just me! I agree that practice, practice, practice will be your best friend...I suggest you try both metal and glass as your punty and see which one works for you. Once you recognize the "feel" of a proper attachment, you'll know you've got it!
Good luck Cakey!
