Default New exhaust and more ventilation Basics

Upgrading our garage workshop ventilation is quite the undertaking.
Got it all figured out, finally.
Went with a couple of cones instead of a couple of hoods and I'm fine tuning it now.

I've read "everything" and I see that an enclosure gets the most attention, with cones being like step-children.

And truthfully, outside of formula's and theory, I haven't seen any hard measurements of either system, nor vent flow rates for whatever we're trying to avoid breathing (and that's a whole 'nother topic. I can find zero information on the hazards of melting soda-lime glass. Even Rubino has less that 10ppm gold encased. Only a teeny tiny bit touches the flame.)...anyway.. anyway.. anyway

I was researching using an anemometer to measure flow rate vs. a hooded bolometer because I want to post some real world measurements of my system.

(btw, I manage an accredited calibration lab so this measurement stuff is my bag)

Basic data like, intake flow rate in CFM (sucking is so much easier to measure than blowing), differential pressure at the couple of 90 degree bends I have, maybe differential pressure between the fan intake and vent intake, velocity.
And i'm open to more.

In a few days I'll post up pics and info..

Back on topic:
I found some more useful ventilation information on an engineering blog I want to share.
