This is such a great thread, many ideas for my own studio. i had a couple of questions for lorraine.

1 how deep is your work station i know it is a metal storage shelf. i am going to use your barley box idea with the shelf and if you have any info that would help me that would be so great and needed. I will be setting up a hh and then a lynx eventually

2, how did you make these wonderful glass storage things on top of the shelf in post number 22. i know you used round pvc piping but what did you attach them to and did you glue them to it.

you are so lucky to have such a handy DH lorraine i will be doing this by my self i'm handy but not that handy.....

Hi and I am so glad you are enjoying the thread and getting ideas from it.

1 how deep is your work station i know it is a metal storage shelf. i am going to use your barley box idea with the shelf and if you have any info that would help me that would be so great and needed. I will be setting up a hh and then a lynx eventually

The unit is 24" X 4' DH bought a heavy piece of plywood from Home Depot for the top. You can use any kind of fan you want, but buy it first so you can cut holes in the wood to fit it.

2, how did you make these wonderful glass storage things on top of the shelf in post number 22. i know you used round pvc piping but what did you attach them to and did you glue them to it.

The bottoms came from Home Depot Garden Dept. They are thin cork sealed to a plastic bottom. They go under potted plants to protect your furniture. They were cheap. Rubber band the tubes together and then use gorilla glue or hot glue gun or aquarium sealer..whatever you have on hand to glue them all together.

Then glue the bottoms on and glue really well all around the edges. Whenever I pick them up I always slide my hand underneath and support the bottom just in case. You can make really tall ones for stringer.

ou are so lucky to have such a handy DH lorraine i will be doing this by my self i'm handy but not that handy.....

I am lucky, he is a terrific husband and my bestest friend. If you get stuck and need any help just holler and I will try my best.

Aww...shucks! ( blushing) You are so very welcome and glad to be of some help.

I now have my new studio area completely redone. I have a new Cricket and will be picking up a 40 CFH oxygen tank next week.

I am hoping with the Cricket it will allow the oxygen to last longer. I figured it out and it should last 1-2 weeks for soft glass. I only torch 1-3 hours a day several times a week.

I took a pic of my new redone bench and it is sooo clean right now. Just had to share. Maybe next week I will take another pic after I mess it all up....LOL

Aww don't worry about it..No doofus's here or would that be doofi? LOL

I am happy now with my temporary indoor studio. I am trying to see how well I could squeeze into a small space. I want to set up the studio in our Toy hauler when we sell the house and buy one so this is a practice run for me and so far I love it.

Just thought I would update this thread and say that we sold the horse trailer and bought a resin shed for the back patio. We are getting the area ready now for the shed build and because it is Resin I thought peeps might want to see how we do it and what obstacles we will have to overcome during the process..

Thanks, the horse trailer was sold a long ago and now we are in the middle of putting up a resin shed on the back terrace for my lampworking studio. You can read all about that on my blog.

I am hoping it might help others to build a small temporary studio also. We shall see how it goes.. Of course we have already run into a snag with the ventilation..We are working on that now.

Here is a sneek peek.

This is great!!! its taken me 4 years from the end of college to find space just to paint let alone lampwork. I am frequently frustrated by space limitations. I love that you made this work for you. Super resourceful!

Your being inspired was what posting The Horse Trailer Saga was all about.

I had so many headaches and frustrations and it seemed lots of others were going through the same thing. The moral is I guess that a safe studio can be set up in all different sizes, shapes and places but not without blood, sweat and tears it seems

On Monday my Tuff Shed will be delivered and set up and I will start a new thread and after setting up the other ones I already know the bugaboos I am facing and not looking forward to those but I am going to post about them all just so others can avoid the problems or at least see how we address them.

Thanks again everyone. I appreciate all of the wonderful comments and it makes very happy to see others inspired.

Is that lens in front a magnifier with didium coating? Where did you find it?

In post number 186? That is a Aura Lens bench shield. It is not magnified. I do have a quilters magnifyer that I tape over it for close up work when I need too though.

If you are referring to a different post tell me which one so I can answer you better.
