Hi ohicu812, thanks. I've emailed the contractor this evening to ask for the 200 amp sub panel just for the studio .... will see what his reaction is tomorrow for that!!! Good idea bout sketching it out. Hoping that the venting will be straight out the wall so no need for a lot of ducting ... but will revisit that when I sketch it out! Thank you! Amanda

I did a layout in cadd.... then purchased brown kraft paper at the $1 store and cut out everything and laid them out.... Sometimes it looks great on the 'puter but not so great on the floor.

Windows and outlets up high for lots of light and easy access for plugging in.

I wish we had an extra 2' in width... 14 x 25 and I'd love the extra 2' in width for more storage.... But love my studio just as it is

I do wish I had at least an extra 2' width but I'm happy that hubby gave me the space anyway!!! Footings were poured yesterday and I believe slab is going in next week sometime. If I get any pics I will post. We head up to Maine on 22 Oct and back home on 27 but will have lots of pics then. Have to pick out everything for the building when we're up there so there will be no delays on the finish end. Exciting but daunting.

OK ... update pic - sides poured .... and we'll be up there on 23 Oct so will be able to take lots of pics then!! But it's coming along! My studio is just the bit that sticks out on the far side - I hope it's a bit bigger (wider) than it looks!!!!

Hi Roy ... yes, hot water heating and this is the system we're putting in ... just one little heater does all the hot water for the kitchen and bathroom, and the floor too. Awesome! Tried to get pic to load today but no luck, it would load but not appear in the post. Will try again tomorrow.

Latest ... 2 pics if I can get them to load ... the first shows my studio as the bit on the side ... most important bit of course! Second is the whole thing. There is still the second floor to go on and of course the roof. Keeping fingers crossed that they can get it framed and roof on before the serious snow starts up there in Maine so they can heat so they can keep working on the interior. Very much hoping it will be ready for next July if all goes well.

Latest pics. My studio is the unframed bit on the side.

Second floor is being framed at the moment - I think!

I am designing a small studio space in my garage. I just found out that if you want an oxygen concentrator under your work bench, the work bench should be about 25" deep and set out from the wall about 5". That is how my teacher has hers set up. I am about to set up my own studio the same way. She just used aluminum sheeting that comes in rolls at Home Depot on the workbench surface. I thought it might be a good idea to put some on the wall behind the bench, also. It's really east to nail down with small nails.
It's just a thought in case you need to economize on the surface to get more important things. I do hope you will keep us posted. This is especially interesting to me, since I'm planning my own studio. Don't forget the first aid kit and the fire extinguisher! Have fun!

Hi Shirlannd, tx for the post and the info on the aluminium sheeting tip, that's good to know. I just don't know what I am going to do as yet for tabletop. I had thought about getting secondhand/used stainless restaurant worktables but would have to find them locally as don't want to ship of course! Anyway, I will have to do all that next summer when I am up there as I can't do it remote for now and, if, of course it is finished by then! Fingers crossed. Winter storm again on the way this weekend so stops work. They wanted to put the roof on but are holding off til the storm's past again!!

Looking good! I love seeing studio builds.

Shirlannd, the oxycon needs to have airflow behind it, but I don't think you need the amount of space around it that you're thinking. As long as you have a foot or two of open space around the concentrator, you should be fine.

Yes, it's slow .. but temperatures have been very low! We had hoped to have the roof on before it was seriously cold so at least they could warm inside, but ....!!
