Default Fuming rod

What size quartz rod is best to use to fume for pendants from 1-3", is there another alternative that works as good as quartz.

I use 7mm quartz rod if I'm using gold or silver leaf or foil. If I want to use wire or snipped off bits I find it easier to get them to stick to a rod of clear borosilicate (I use 10mm)

Use 5 mm clear boro. It all comes down to a personal preference.
