Do you have a marble mold? It's not impossible to make a round marble without one, but it sure is a whole lot harder... heck, I can't even make a round marble WITH a marble mold!

In a pinch you can make a marble mold out of some cherry wood, but it's better to just pick up a mold. Cheaper ones than the totally fantastic Fritz molds can be had as starters.

I don't know of any tutorials online, but you can rent a video from smartlix for 10.00. Well worth it

Check out Chad Trent's (Cosmo here on LE) book on marbles, it's fantastic. You can purchase the printed version or the digital version.

Yes, I have a mold...not top of the line but suited to my skill level.

Checking out Cosmo's book/link now. Thanks for that suggestion

Do you think soft glass is equally good for marbles or should I start with boro?

I think soft glass is equally good. I Wish i had more time to play around with soft glass.

I don't know if this counts as a tutorial but here is a vid of a soft glass implosion marble.

I just got the new issue of Glass Line Magazine today. It has a very detailed tutorial on making a boro flower implosion marble.

start with boro it is much much much easier and more forgiving than soft glass for making marbles. Trying to make soft glass marbles is harder because it is softer and you can screw up the shape easily and the bit I found hardest was getting it off the final punty and it the kiln....

Softglass is fine for marbles, and you can go much larger on a smaller torch than you can with boro. I recommend Drew Fritz's marble book if you are working with softglass.

Chad's book is good for boro, and is affordable.

Yeah, definitely check out Ron Jr.'s tutorial. It rocks, and he includes some great color pattern references too.
