Default Tiny Mandrels

Hi All! I would like to make some little beads, as in, maybe ten mm. The smallest mandrel I have is 1/16. I need something smaller. Do they exist? Where can I find some? Help, help, help. Thanks.

I have heard of people working with even smaller than 1/16... chrissij would probably know, I think she works with teeny mandrels, cause she makes microscopic beads... compared to my chunks!

I use .045 for earrings. I cut my own from TIG rod that I buy from a local welding supply shop.

I think there was talk about it in beadroller thread too, in gallery, cause Donna made the mini mini roller for those who make that stuff... they were also talking about the mandrels in that one. I tried to find it for you, but sadly I couldnt. If you contact Donna, she might also remember what was said or where in the thread it was. It is a looooong thread, but I dont think it was very long time ago that this was discussed in it.

Wayyyyyy cheaper to just get the stainless TIG and make your own. For $9, you'd get over 1000 mandrels. (TIG is sold by the pound).

Shawnette, I have had no luck finding my own TIG rods. About a year ago you found me a local place to call and even they acted like they had no clue what I was talking about. I would LOVE to cut my own. I'm always bending them and they get shorter and shorter LOL

Plus they bend like hell, so you will be going through a lot of them. Extra care is needed when twisting the beads off...

Been there and done that, so I gave up on them. I rarely bend the 1/16" but these little skinny suckers I do, and it was just from them being in the flame rather than twisting beads off of them. I was using the HH and still warping them.

It's .045" and they should have it. If not, they can order it.

That's the size I use. The .040 bends way too easily unless you cut it really short.

I use 1/32 and 1/29 that I get from Arrow Springs. Intakes careful attention to heat control and flame size and location, but they work well for tiny hole beads.
