Tagging Beads

How do you price tag your loose beads? I spent hours cutting up little squares of sticky jewelry tags, handwriting the price and sticking them on each bead only to have the tags come off.

When I tag individual beads, I run a string through the hole and either use a punched hole tag and thread it on or cut address labels and stick them over and around the cord.

I don't typically sell loose beads except my $1 orphan and widow bowl or my BHB tray that are all one price which I don't tag.

Use white out and then write on the white out with a Sharpie. Or just write on the bead with the Sharpie. It'll rub off.

Colored string or ribbon with each color assigned a value ( with the artist willing to knock off a bit here and there, now and then).

I use little color coding labels, the yellow ones, that Avery makes, #5792. They are only 1/4 inch dia. They come in red blue and green as well. You have to make sure the bead is clean where you put them. I just use my tshirt in that spot. You need to rub them down a bit so they stick. I've tried the white out, gets everywhere and the stuff dries out. For me the dots have been the perfect answer and I've been using them for about 12 years.

The last couple of shows I've put out bowls of loose beads with the bowl of large beads marked $5, medium $3 and small $1. I initially thought those prices might be too high, but I was surprised that people just ignored the carefully marked beads displayed in trays and went for the bowls. I've sold about $100 of beads that way in the last two shows and zero from the trays. People seem to like running their fingers through the beads and deciding what they'll create with them.
