Exactly! Blech. I got a different looking cup for just this reason!

Mine was a beverage. A couple of day old beverage, with bugs in it. Teach me to clean up my space more often.

Tiny bugs, but still! I felt something hit my lips, and it wasn't ice cold, so thankfully I didn't actually swallow anything.

Also, while using your Dremel to clean your bead holes and happen to notice your fingernails are a little grungy, don't try to clean them with that handy tool in your hand... It takes out more than just the dirt!

My finger tips hurt just thinking about this but that's not to say that the thought hasn't crossed my mind!

Aren't you glad you now know it's not a great idea? I'm always trying to think of new ways on how to use my tools - and how NOT to use them follows that...

Don't set the hot marver on a work surface that isn't fireproof!

(What's that smell???)

or sit the hot rod you were using down on a wooden filing cabinet because you only have 2 hands and you are frantically trying to pick the marble up off the floor that you just knocked out of your mold.

So not only do you now have crud all over your clear glass on the outside of your not-so-good-to-begin with marble but you now also have a pretty burn mark on the filing cabinet top

LOL! Who hasn't gone chasing after a marble a time or ten?

I keep a thin rod of clear on my wok surface as a marble picker upper. LOL.
Also, Don't leave water in your ceramic mug if it is going to be -3 degrees overnight. I will show the picture tomorrow. I was amused..once I finished picking up all the mandrels from the floor.

Don't keep glass full of picks and dental tools pointy side up.

Don't turn on the kiln without looking inside first.

Don't turn on the propane until you made damn sure the torch is turned OFF.

LOL I've done just about all of what's been posted so far, including what I've highlighted in purple. I always checked when I emptied the kiln to make sure there were no bits of dust or bead release on the floor of the kiln (I have a big ol' pottery one) before I close it down for the week.
Now I check before I turn it on as well, since the day I came back out to start work to a smell of roasting. A poor gecko must have been in there when I turned it on, even though I close it up between firings. So now I check and make noise, and give any little reptile time to escape before cranking it up. That smell stayed with me for days, poor little thing.

Oh, and I think I've already said elsewhere at some time, not to test the heat of the marver with your chin....

Re-learned today:
Don't put exactly the amount of murrini you plan to use on your marver, put an extra or two. It's hard to keep the bead warm while you scour the floor for the dropped one.

No matter how excited you are to get your latest glass order - don't unpack it except on a work surface.

Little pieces of glass hiding in your favorite chair can be a, pardon the expression, a real bum bummer.

This reminds me of something sort of similar.

I also fuse glass so I placed an order for 5 - 24" x 24" sheets of white glass from a vendor ( 250.00 worth to be exact). When they arrived, I unpacked them and then leaned them up against the workbench instead of putting them away.

A little later in the day, I moved a step ladder so that I could hang a few items on the wall directly across from the glass I had leaned up against the workbench.

When I stepped down from the ladder, I backed up right into the bottom of the sheet glass and shattered all 5 pieces because of the pressure from the heel of my shoe on the bottom edge of the glass.

I was extremely lucky - I didnt get cut - Sad is trying to figure out how to use 5 24 x 24 sheets of glass shards for projects instead of actual sheets that you can cut!
