How much soot does a torch give off

Hi all,

I’m a total newbie and am considering investing in some equipment and setting something up at my house. I’m reading up on all the safety issues but am curious if the torches give off much soot?

I've been running a Minor in the same spot for 25 years and never noticed any soot.

There will only be soot if your flame chemistry is way off. if you have a neutral flame, there will be no elemental carbon as a product of combustion, it will all be CO and CO2.

that said... even if there were, if you have proper ventilation your ventilation would make it flow right out.

The only time I've ever noticed any soot was while running propane only flames, with oxygen added, I don't think there is any soot. I would think a Hothead torch might produce some, and a really strong reduction flame might produce some, but if you are running a neutral flame it shouldn't be a problem.
