Make more petals than you need. Reintroduce them to the flame slowly if you can't keep them heated. Make sure you melt them firmly to your base bead. If not attached properly they will eventually break off.

They have to go into a hot kiln afterwards, they won't survive the cooling process in a fibre blanket or vermiculite.

You can also build up dots on a base bead and then use the tweezers to shape the petals.

Just bite the bullet, go to walmart and get a coffee cup heater. It will save you MUCH irritation and lost leaves!

I've never seen them here in Oz.

I put mine on the torch marveer (which doesn't get that hot anyway).

I find the solid colours more forgiving than the transparents.

I've never successfully used encased petals. they always seem to shatter.

Hi Kelly and ladies,

Just getting on LE after a long while...family health issues..things are calming down. I want to thank everyone for giving Kelly the tips. Glad the DVD is working now. It is professionally made with a company although the DVD was videoed in my basement studio. (1st DVD) Don't like to see myself on video. I made it so people can learn by watching inot too look pretty...ha, ha.

If you have anymore questions that these lovely ladies didn't answer please email me or anyone else who is having problems with making the flowers. They have been a very successful tool for me and others along with the new Featherbone and Fishbone tools. Great flower Wendy! www.leonardolampwork.com

Sincerely,

Karen
PS: Thanks for all your business! And sometimes a candle warmer works better on high to keep the petals warm.

the second commandment of lampworking - thou shalt not place thy tools in the flame, it maketh them wonky

the first commandment is - thou shalt not drop hot shit in thy lap, perchance it setteth thy goolies or vajayjay aflame
