Default Encasing 96

Does encasing 96 color have the same types of issues in general as 104? For example, do hot colors crack?

I don't encase a lot, but I haven't had any problems with any marbles I've made.

Thanks Shawnette. I'm just going to try them and see what happens! I do not encase much either, so it is hard for me to know when it is me or the glass if something cracks.

I work primarily in 96 coe and the only cracking I get are self inflicted thermal cracks from bad heat application at the end. Encasing is still an iffy skill so I tend to forget that last warming bath in the flame.

I encase with Uroborus 96 all the time with no problems. Don't know about other brands.

If you make your core with clear...then case thinly with your cranky color - like effettre warm colors - browns seem to give me a hard time.....then case with your clear....should solve the incompatibility issue

A thin layer of color sandwiched with clear usually works for me

Cheers

Lisa

Thank you Lisa. Sounds a lot like 104!

So, the more I think about it, the more I realize the answer to your question is no. The vast majority if furnace work is 96COE and they encase everything. The only color I've ever had any issues with is R125 Oxblood. A shame because it's a really nice color. (I work almost exclusively with 96)
