That is so cool. I got bamboo knee high socks at Target. They were so-oo soft!

I don't want to answer your question in this thread in detail, because this thread is really about sources of non-glass items, and I don't want to derail it into a glass discussion.
Here's a thread that talks about glass suppliers. There are a lot of opinions expressed, so you'll see that people have different preferences. Please note that the thread started quite a while ago, so some of the info in the earlier posts might be out of date. I wouldn't go strictly by the poll results, because as you'll see, not all the suppliers could be listed (there's a limit on the number of choices you can have in a poll). Also, not all suppliers carry every type of glass.
Glass Suppliers poll thread
Personally, I order most of my glass from Arrow Springs, although I've ordered from other suppliers as well.

Corks
I get mine @ the local True Value hardware store in the back section in the "drawers of misc. parts" (where the nuts, bolts, & screws are!)--likely places like Ace hardware &/or whatever small independent hardware store you're near would have them too--the actual vendor is the same for all those places--the wholesalers come in & place the orders for everyone

Table risers
I use bed risers from Linens 'N Things to raise the height of my tables at shows. You can stack two sets together to get another few inches; they're still very sturdy.

O rings, small corks, tubing, etc
Ace Hardware has lots of stuff. If you only need a few of something check there. I have even bought foot long stainless steel rod/tubing to use as mandrels there.

Cheaper Educational Versions of Software
You can get MUCH cheaper educational versions of all sorts of programs, including Quark at a site called:
Academic Superstore.com
There is no difference in the capabilities of the software. In order to purchase from them, you must have proof that you have a child attending school K-higher ed or you are a teacher yourself. A fax of a report card is sufficient proof.
I purchased Quark for $199 instead of $750. Photoshop CS3 is $297 vs. $999. They have ALL sorts of other programs.

Software at Eduacational Discounts
I haven't posted in this thread for a while, but I just heard about this site, where you can get software at educational discounts.
I always used Acedemic Superstore.com, but this place is cheaper in some cases. The eligiblity requirements and prices differ on each site.
You need to either be a teacher, school administrator, or be a student to purchase but the discounts are great!
Here's the site:
http://www.journeyed.com
and here is the page with the eligibility requirements:
http://www.journeyed.com/page/purchase_requirements/
For example, college students can get Adobe CS4 for only $399.98. And of course they can give it to their parents as a gift...

This is great. This should be a sticky (or whatever it is called).
I get a lot of stuff from Harbor Freight. It seems I look for items I can use at every store I got to.
