How many different brands of Soft Glass are there?
I'm relatively new to bead-making where I'd like to open up my options for soft glass brands, but don't want to make that newbie mistake and buy something that's not compatible.
Here are the ones I'm familiar with: - Effetre/Moretti
- CIM
- Double Helix
- Lauscha
- Devardi
- Vetrofond
- Trautman
- Precision
- Reichenbach
- Kuglar
What exactly is "Czech" glass? Is it compatible?

Uroboros: http://www.uroboros.com/products.php...=&category=146
Caution: the COE104 line seems to be relatively new. Most of the compatible glass the sell is COE96, and they also have COE90.
The caution is not for compatibility, but is just to say not much of their line is COE104.
ASK: Kugler, I think, sold by Arrow Springs
Bella Donna: http://www.arrowsprings.com/html/belladonna_glass.html
Mother of Pearl Cane: Not sure where to get this these days
As for Czech: I've also heard it referred to as Ornela, but not Preciosa: http://www.preciosa-ornela.com/glass...mpworking-rods
I've never bought any and thought it was COE104, but the spec sheet seems to indicate it is COE90 (actually it says at least COE90).
Also, the website describes it as furnace glass, which to me implies COE96. However, there seem to be lots of online links that say COE104.
And here's a blog that says that there is both a Czech glass and a Check glass: http://atypicallyme.wordpress.com/gu...working-glass/

104 COE- Belladonna Glass (made by Donna @ Arrow Springs)
- CIM
- Devardi
- Double Helix
- Effetre (no longer called Moretti - using the name 'Moretti' to refer to this glass is incorrect)
- George Tessman Glass (silver glass - no new colours in a long time)
- Kugler Beadmaking 104 (used to be referred to as ASK)
- Lauscha
- Ornela Preciosa (Czech glass)
- Precision 104 (manufactured by Northstar)
- Reichenbach
- Striking Color
- TAG (Trautman Art Glass)
- Uroboros (Only Black and Clear so far)
- Vetreria Soiva (Only Clear so far - this is the company that is supposed to be producing Vetrofond's formulas going forward)
- Vetrofond (no longer in production)
Ornela/Czech glass is supposed to be around the same COE but from what I have read, people who use it keep it separate and don't combine it with other glasses. My understanding is that Devardi is also regarded as more risky, compatibility-wise.
96 COE- CiM (No longer made - CiM now only makes 104)
- Gaffer
- Kugler
- Pi Glass (No longer available)
- Reichenbach
- Spectrum
- Uroboros
- Zimmerman (no longer in production)
90 COE

Received this in 2010 when I checked about Preciosa-Ornela
We havenīt in the moment a distributors in the U.S.
In the past was buying our glass Jodelglass and East Bay Color.
We donīt send small quantities.
We produce two lines of glass:
Lead (composite) rods with COE 96
Leadfree rods with COE 112
We donīt test the compatibility with Italian glass.
Are you a beadmaker?
On what quantities are you interested?
With best regards
Viktor Neumann

There was that other one (cheep then, $5 lb) that was about 108-110 I think in COE. I had some from Paula d back in the day, I think I gifted it to someone a while ago. I can't think of the name... The rods were clearly hand pulled. A little thicker, melted like butter. Chinese maybe...
