I have a question
I had some "help" cleaning my studio last weekend. Three 12 year old grand kids. Come to find out all of my clear rods were put together. Some of it is boro and some of it is Soft glass. So now that I have to seperate it how the heck do I find out what is what? Is there any way to find out? I'd hate to spend time making beads only to find out I used boro clear on soft glass and now all my efforts are for nothing. I'd even hate to have to throw it all 15+ lbs. out and start over.

if you have liquid etch all, the boro wont etch the soft glass will

another way of telling is quite simple... put them in a hot flame. If they crack, explode or boil....it's soft glass

I did the same thing! I just stuck them all in etch, it was quicker than putting them all in the flame.

If you look into the end of your rods, you will notice colors. Blue or green. Can't remember which is which. But it will let you sort them. Then you only need to dip the end of one rod from each color group to tell boro from soft.
