Please help me identify a boro color
Hi everyone,
I was gifted with 2 rods of boro 6 years ago and never touched it until this week.
It turned out awesome but I don't have a clue what's the colors name nor the producer.
That's what the rod looks like, not as clear as in the photo, more of a light yellow hint.
And that's how it turned out.
The snake was not in my kiln, just let it cool off.
Any suggestion?
Thanks!
Elke

looks like northstar Lokis Lipstick or maybe tag Mai Tai. Both Widely available and beautiful colors. Nice work.

As Larry says, the end coloring looks like lokis but I thought lokis rods were generally a ruby color while my Mai Tai is almost clear with a slight yellowish tinge. Mine typically produces more ambers when torched though. I wish my mai tai struck more of the reds/pinks and less of the ambers/purples. 6 years is a little bit of time for possible batch differences so I'm sort of hanging on Mai Tai.....
here's what my mai tai strikes like:

I have some old silver creek that will look like that, and I don't know, has Mai tai been around for 6 years already? seems like that color is not that old yet.

Yep, looks like silver creek to me. I bought 5 lbs of it about 5-6 years ago. Still have a little of that batch on hand. the newer batch is almost a urine color, but strikes the same.

Thanks everyone for the great advice.
Northstar is the only site where I can see what the rod looks like.
So silver creek seems to be a good suggestion.
I also found amber purple and the rod looks similar to mine.
Does anybody know if this color is around since 6 years?
Thanks a bunch!

Amber Purple wouldn't have given you that much color without alot of "HOT" work in the flame and maybe not even then.
Yup, Silver Creek has been around that long and I love it.
Great snake and wonderful color.

Thanks for the nice compliments and help.
I will see what colors I can get in Europe.
Due to the increased shipping costs from the US to Germany and import sales tax, I won't be able to order in the US.
