Don't put your face in front of the torch face and you'll be fine.

Bring them with you. I will be THRILLED to demo it for you!
I loves me some presses - I think I have at least one of everything!

I always call this my "money shot" moment (yeah, I know how to work the
parental porno controls on my cable TV ). The point in a class or demo when
you see that ONE THING. That ONE THING that suddenly makes this $400
class pay for itself. In Margaret Zinsers class it was how she rolled the tube
beads on her marver. That magical moment - I was like WOW! This is SO
WORTH the cost of the class just to learn THIS!
Magic!

I'm flying, so won't be able to bring any presses. They are too heavy. Maybe someone else will have some there I can look at and learn from.

Don't look at me. I do such a crappy job with my straight-sided lentil trio press that I think I'm going to sell it. (However, you'll have to pry my Jim Moore cushion press from my cold dead hands. I seriously heart it.)

Quote:
I always call this my "money shot" moment
I've had several of what I've called my aha moments. They've all come after many classes and many failed attempts at particular techniques. It was my third introductory beadmaking workshop with my third instructor and I was still struggling to get my beads round when Cheryl Mattson righted my world by telling me to keep my mandrel out of the flame (duh!) and probably a year later when I was complaining about my lack of ability to draw with stringer and, without even looking up, she told me how to readjust the position of my stringer so that I'd stop melting it off. Sometimes, those moments are on delay. My Margaret Zinser money shot came just a month or so ago, almost a year after taking her class, when I'd finally gotten decent enough at making barrel beads (further proving your point, her way of making the barrel does not work for me) that her method of making bicones by making smaller barrels on top of barrels started working for me like no others ever have.

Quote:
In Margaret Zinsers class it was how she rolled the tube beads on her marver.
Did she tell you to think about baby butterflies? It really is the perfect reminder to marver gently.

Baby butterflies. I love that analogy. I'll have to remember it. Thanks for sharing.

That was one of Margaret's tips, not mine. It works, though!

If no one else is bringing presses - maybe I'll bring one of mine for my demo. Karen - is that OK with you?

Absolutely. I think that if you guys can get together and maybe each
one of you can bring a different press - I can demo all of them. I'll show
you whatever tricks I know on getting the perfect lentil/kalera/square/heart
or whatever bead!

That would be awesome! I guess I'll wait until after GS to sell my press.

I am also willing to demo presses. I find the Kalera to be the most challenging press. But I think I've got it figured out! Don't know if I'll be able to bring mine, tho. Maybe someone driving could bring theirs.

I'm once again considering doing a cha-cha or foxtrot demo.

LOL!!! I'm good with that! I love to dance! So where do the beads come in???

Still haven't figured out what I'll be demoing. The presses sounded cool, but I'm also flying so will defer to Karen. I'm trying to think of something that doesn't take too long so I can make a quick getaway.

I only have one press, a graduated lentil, and I'd love to learn how to make a nice lentil with it...I'll bring it since I'm driving up.

I will demo with my press, if no one minds. I can use the nugget and show other uses for it, too. If anyone has the Cattwalk vertical heart duo - I'd love to see a demo of it Also the Kalera or the Cattwalk crunch - I have a hard time guaging glass amts for the crunch w/o going out the edges.

Karen, you rock woman! I swear she could demo anything without fear (me? No....)

It would be great to demo presses, maybe I will demo a lentil wearable fish one night, the lentil body sure is cute (one on ebay right now, search dcrowley), so cute!

Toni, I vote for the ChaCha......now I am holding you to it (but at least there will be lots of hunks to help out!)

Ohh..I STILL remember how to make the fish from the lentil like you showed us! That was just great! It's amazing how many things you can make just
starting with the lentil press!

And Toni - I want to see some belly-dancing.

Pole dance Karen? I am sure I heard that too! Ok Toni, what is with the OR....you have plenty of time to demo BOTH, er, ALL 3 dances......we will make time

I have several presses ( 4 I think) from Cattwalk tools in the GS box....at least one lentil, a squeeze, a larger lentil I think and some Weaver graphite molds so you all don't have to bring too many. I know Cat wanted to donate more again this year, we will contact her and see what she wants to send. It is cool that we can share them every year although some we have given out as door prizes!

I will figure out what is in there after I get through sign ups for classes.
hugs deb

Melody, ha ha ha, me too although I have lost a bit of weight lately!

The donated beads go to sponsors, demo items get put into a draw and you will win a demo someone else made, it is really cool!
