Hi everyone,
I had a wacko fubar tonight.
..Spent 3 hours making some little lovlies (morettis) and set them all in my toolbox kiln (jen-ken chili pepper)..When I was finished, I hit the middle button once and left buttom twice (it's digital)...this is the method to shorten the program so it starts to ramp down and doesn't soak for the full 2 hours, I think. I have done this many times over the past several years, and never had a problem... Well..I went down to the studio to check them after a few hours and smelled a strange smell (turned out to be overheated bead release) and noticed a strange "glow" coming out of the side of the kiln.I swear I thought I was going to open the damned thing and find a fire inside....The digital reading was 1500 degrees and all of my beads had melted. WTF? I didn't even know those kilns could get that hot!!! I plan to call the manufacture tomorrow to ask about it, but thought I'd get a head start and get some feedback from you all here...anyone ever had this happen? Was it just some dumb error on my part? Kinda makes me scared to use the thing again...(and I spent 40 minutes on this sweet silver reactive vessel bead that I was super excited to see!) urgh!!!
Any help/feedback is greatly appreciated.
Thanks-
Holly
