Foster Fire Bead release problems
Sorry for the double posting but didn't get any answers in the Living Room:
Okay, so I received a sampl of Smooth N' Tuff at the Gathering this year and fell in love with the stuff. I ordered a large container of Smooth N' Tuff and a large container of the Heavy Duty. Neither are smooth. When I dip the mandrel in and pull it out, there are a lot of crystals and it's very liquidy.
Sooooo, what's up? I'd love any input I can get on this.

Have you stirred it thoroughly? Try adding about 5 or so wonky beads and shake it up really well.
You said it was too thin - usually it is too thick when you get it. Usually if it looks bumpy on your mandrel, you can add water and it will smooth it out. Perhaps put a small amount in a separate jar and try adding some distilled or tap water to it. Don't use water that has been through a water softener - it will ruin the bead release.

yes, I've stirred, but I will try your idea of adding beads to it. It's liquidy to add water to it.
Hopefully I will here from the manufacturer also.

I think I read somewhere that if this bead release gets too warm it turns liquidy and needs to be replaced.

If it's too thin, leave the top off for a while.
Shake it, see if that helps. Be sure the top is on well. (some of us have made that mistake)

I had a jar of Smooth and tuff that was like this too - apparently the whole case except for one jar had "gone off". I left the lid off for a week and it thickened slightly, but cracked at the sight of a flame (tried flame drying and air-drying for a couple days). The store is getting me a new bottle of stuff to try out.
