Default “BeadCamp” With Janie Jones in Nokomis, Florida!

“BeadCamp” With Janie Jones in Florida!

Wow, we had such an enthusiastic response to our “BeadCamp” with Corina that we are scheduling another one with Janie Jones. She’s a terrific teacher and artist. This workshop will be designed for beginners and intermediate lampworkers. [/size][/i]

Join us in Nokomis, Florida, March 8–11, for four fun-filled days of lampworking. Janie has been making beads for 18 years and teaching for 8. She shows and sells her work at juried shows throughout the southeast and has a large following of loyal collectors. She will teach a broad repertoire of lampworking techniques such as stringer control, dot patterns, sculpting and shaping tricks, custom twisties and what to do with them, and much more. She’ll also share some hints using brass presses. Look at her web site at www.grammyglass.com - make sure you click the link to her blog to see all the things she can do. And if we’re really nice, We can talk her into showing us some creative things to do with our beads, such as wire wrapping or weaving, metal stamping, making our own bead caps and even a few more surprises she has up her sleeve! There will be plenty of formal instruction and lots of personal time with Janie after class too, helping to solve your individual stumbling blocks or making some new discoveries.

Learning new designs and techniques from this positive and supportive teacher will be a great addition to your developing skills.

Just like in camp as a kid, you can choose to stay up half the night making beads or just enjoy new friends. This venue is great for sharing with other participants and with Janie. On top of this, it is very affordable. Cost for all four days, Janie's instruction, glass, fuel, and torches is only $650. Wow, a Florida vacation and Janie for that price! The studio space is limited to 10 people, double occupancy lodging at the cottage is limited to 6, others will stay in a motel only 1 mile away so reserve now.

Bring your own eye protection and favorite tools if you have them.
Join us and become a “BeadCamper” too!

Location and Facilities

The workshop will be held in Marley and Jetze Beers’ cottage in Nokomis, Florida. They bought it recently and it’s a “fixer upper” so not yet completed. The inside is fresh and newly decorated but the outside still leaves a lot to be desired. Marley and Jetze are former innkeepers and know how to take care of “campers!” Marley is a lampworker and jewelry designer. Jetze is a “host extraordinaire.” He also designs and builds great booths if you want some tips.

The workshop is well appointed with Mini CC torches and comfortable work spaces for each participant.

There are also metalworking tools if you want to try your hand at making up something with your gorgeous beads. The workshop space is being renovated so we do not have a photo of it yet.
The cottage also has room for dining and lounging. Breakfast and lunch will be provided and you can either go out or cook in for supper. Transportation will be provided for trips to the beach, or wherever we want to go.
