Default Canon Powershot G10

Any reviews?
Love it?
Hate it?

Im seriously looking at this because I will never be able to afford a Nikon D90

I wonder if your camera place would let you use it to try it out. I know my camera shop will let people use it for two weeks and if it isn't what you want you can return it, money refunded.
Maybe ask and see. The canon camera forums sure like that camera so it must have a lot to offer.
Nikon D40 is also at a lower price now, maybe compare them?

I also have a Canon Powershot G9 and I absolutely love it. I also have a Canon Digital Rebel, but I've found that I don't use it nearly as often now that I have the G9. It's an excellent size and gives you a lot of control over your photos, but without the price of the big and fancy SLR's.

Walmart will let you buy cameras and use them for 30 days.

I got my G10 last night. I love it!! The cats thought the hubby and I had gone crazy last night. I ended up buying him a sony 10.1 cybershot (because I lost the camera I was going to hand down to him).

Congrats, Leslie!!! That's exactly the camera I've been shopping for -- do you mind my asking where you found best price (I've had it on that Spider search forever it seems)????

Thanks,
Lea

Lea,
I just saw this thread. Don't know if you ever found a camera, but I literally have a G10 waiting to be picked up. Purchased it at Wolf camera, $499.
I'm just trying to decide if I really want that one or the Canon SD780 IS I originally was looking at which is only $249. I picked the G10 because the pix appeared so much better than the 780. Decisions, decisions!!

I just bought a G10, two of the camera operators at David's station swear by this camera. I have no review yet; I'm just charging the battery!

It'll be a step up from my beloved little Coolpix 3100, which I'm keeping for snaps.

Sherry, love your G10 pics! I've had a Canon powershot forever and it's getting old & weary. Want to upgrade to the G10 (my gf has the G9 and it's awesome too).

Still hoping to find a good deal somewhere/sometime! HAH!

Best,
Lea

Beautiful picture Sherry!
Hey Lea,
I had a old canon power shot to send in for repairs but it was not worth it. Cannon has a loyalty program where you can purchase a reconditioned one with a warranty. Then send your old camera in for credit $$.
For details call 1-800-828-4040 Upgrade Program 1-866-443-8022
I got a G9 and love it
Hope this helps, never hurts to ask.....MarieAnn

Sherry, OMG what a cool pic. My Nikon D70 is still dead. It wasn't the shutter motor. Now checking to see if it's the shutter it's self. I use my camera primarily for bead pics. I am really impressed with your pic. Maybe I should forget fixing my D70 and get the Canon. Would probably be cheaper. Anyone got any other pics to show..close ups especially.

Wait another question...was this pic taken with a special lens or just on macro setting?

Default G10 vs D90

well I have two cents. I just came back from buying a new camera and decided on the G10 rather than the D90 because for the price difference there wasn't an incredible difference in quality of detail for jewelry. I took some pendants that had fine detail and took pictures of them with both cameras. We then put the pictures on a screen side by side and compared. I preferred the G10.

It was a fun process and so if you are unsure of which camera, I suggest you compare cameras by taking pictures of the jewelry and seeing which picture you prefer. takes some guess work out....

Now I have to learn how to use it.....
