Default rods turning colors or getting discolored?

whay do all of my rods change colors? unless they are messy rods? even my opaque colored bullseye rods change colors? where abouts in the flame should i be holding my glass? i use a hothead, bullseye coe 90, effetre 104.

thanks.


any tips and pointers much appreciated.

You're very possibly holding it too far down into the flame, or have the torch turned up too high. It doesn't need to be cranked all the way up... There's a lot of tips in the tutorials and techniques section.

Moretti opalinos and alabastros are especially sensitive to burning.

It's a common mistake, easy answer. I have some tutorials/articles on my site, one of them has a (really cheesy) diagram of where to work in a HH flame. Good luck!

When I was on a HH I could only use MAPP gas not propane. Propane is not a very clean burning gas in my area.

where are you from? where i am, propane is cleaner than mapp gas lol, too funny heh?
